Day 1 - June 28, 2025

Arrive in Lima and check in to your hotel for the night.

Day 2 - June 29, 2025

Arrival in Huaraz & Acclimatization at Lazy Dog Inn

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to Lima Airport for your 7:30 AM flight to Huaraz, a quick 1-hour journey that now replaces the former 9-hour bus ride.

Upon arrival in Huaraz, you will head to Lazy Dog Inn, your home for the next three nights. Nestled in the mountains at an elevation of 3,650 meters (11,975 feet), this unique eco-lodge offers the perfect base to acclimate to the altitude, enjoy day hikes, and connect with your fellow travelers.

Lazy Dog Inn is renowned for its warm hospitality, hearty meals, and sustainable practices. Fresh produce from the on-site garden and greenhouse ensures delicious, home-cooked meals, providing the nourishment needed for the upcoming trekking days.

Day 3 - June 30, 2025

Acclimatization & Cultural Experience in Huaraz

Wake up to breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks in the heart of the Andes. Your morning begins with a gentle yoga session, designed to help with altitude acclimatization and set a relaxed tone for the day.

After yoga, you'll embark on a short 1-hour acclimatization hike, allowing your body to gradually adjust to the elevation while enjoying the stunning surroundings.

Following the hike, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor traditional Andean flavors. In the afternoon, you'll visit the local cultural center, where you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with local children. If you’d like to bring gifts, they especially appreciate crayons, pencils, and educational toys.

The day concludes with a relaxing dinner at Lazy Dog Inn, where you can unwind and enjoy another fresh, home-cooked meal. Today is all about taking it slow and allowing your body to adjust to the altitude.

Day 4 - July 1, 2025

Second acclimatization hike

Today, you will embark on a guided acclimatization hike to Laguna Llaca, a stunning glacial lake nestled at approximately 4,500 meters (14,764 feet). The trail begins right at the doorstep of Lazy Dog Inn, leading you through breathtaking Andean landscapes with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and rugged terrain.

This 8-hour hike is a perfect way to continue adjusting to the altitude while experiencing one of the region’s most spectacular hidden gems. Laguna Llaca is known for its brilliant turquoise waters, framed by towering glaciers.

Make sure to bring your box lunch from the lodge and at least 2 liters of water.

Day 5 - July 2, 2025

Drive to the Huayhuash trailhead

Today, you will embark on a 5-hour scenic drive from Huaraz to your first campsite in the Huayhuash Range.

The journey begins with a 2-hour drive to Chiquián, a charming Andean town that serves as the gateway to the Huayhuash Circuit. From here, the road continues for another 3 hours to Pocpa Village, passing through remote highland landscapes with spectacular mountain views. As you ascend further, you will enter the Rondoy Valley, a vast grassy expanse at 4,000 meters (13,123 feet), surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks.

Your first campsite, Cuartelhuain Camp (4,200 meters / 13,780 feet), offers breathtaking open views and marks the true beginning of your high-altitude trekking adventure.

For the next eight nights of camping, you will have access to clean water and enjoy freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. Meals will be served in a communal dining tent, though on clear days, we may opt to dine outdoors, especially for lunch, to fully appreciate the stunning surroundings.

Day 6 - July 3, 2025

First day of Hiking in the Huayhuash Circuit 

Today’s trek takes you from Cuartelhuain Camp to Laguna Mitucocha (Janca Camp 2), a breathtaking alpine lake nestled beneath towering peaks.

The journey begins with a steady ascent to Cacanampunta Pass (4,684 meters / 15,367 feet), located at the northernmost end of the Huayhuash Range. This pass marks the continental divide, where water flows toward either the Pacific or the Amazon Basin. As you cross over, the landscape transforms dramatically, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Keep an eye on the sky—you might spot Andean condors soaring above the icy peaks.

Today's hike is short and steady, designed to aid with acclimatization as you gradually adjust to the increasing altitude.

Upon arrival at Janca Camp (4,244 meters / 13,900 feet), you will settle in and enjoy lunch at camp, surrounded by breathtaking views of Laguna Mitucocha and the jagged peaks of Rondoy and Jirishanca.

Day 7 - July 4, 2025

Janca Pass to Carhuacocha Camp 3

Today's journey takes you over a long but gradual pass, offering spectacular views of the Cordillera Huayhuash’s highest peak, Yerupajá (6,634 meters / 21,765 feet)—a breathtaking sight and one of the most dramatic mountains in the Andes.

After crossing the pass, you will begin a gentle descent into a stunning valley, where the landscape unfolds to reveal the crystal-clear waters of Laguna Carhuacocha. Your campsite tonight is set along the shores of the lake, surrounded by majestic peaks and hanging glaciers reflecting in the turquoise waters. This is one of the most scenic campsites on the trek, offering an unforgettable setting for the night.

Carhuacocha - Siula Pass - Huayhuash Camp 4

Wake up to a breathtaking sunrise as the majestic peaks reflect perfectly on Laguna Carhuacocha—one of the most stunning sights of the trek.

Today’s hike begins with a gradual ascent through a valley, passing three alpine lakes with incredible mountain views. A steep climb takes you to Siula Pass (4,836m / 15,900ft), offering panoramic glacier and peak views. A descentleads to Huayhuash Camp (4,353m / 14,218ft) for the night.

Day 9- July 6, 2025

Huayhuash Camp 4 to Portachelo de Huayhuash - Viconga Camp 5

Start with a gradual 3-hour climb to Portachuelo de Huayhuash Pass (4,778m / 15,675ft), offering stunning views. Descend to Viconga Lake, then continue to the thermal baths (4,367m / 14,327ft), where camp will be set up.

Here, you can relax in the hot springs, buy beers and WiFi, and enjoy a well-earned rest.

💡 Exit Option: If you don't have time to complete the full trek, you can leave via this community and return to Lima the next day by private transport (cost inquiries required).

Day 10 - July 7, 2025

Viconga Camp 5 - Cuyoc Pass - Huanapactay Camp 6

Begin with a steep climb to Cuyoc Pass (5,047m / 16,600ft), the highest pass of the circuit. Descend into a scenic valley, passing rivers, alpine lakes, waterfalls, and grazing sheep and horses.

Lunch will be served midway to camp. If feeling strong, take a 2-hour detour to San Antonio Pass for one of the best views of the trek. Otherwise, continue down to Huanacpatay Camp (4,367m / 14,327ft), a magical valley surrounded by rivers and snow-capped peaks.

Day 11 - July 8, 2025

Huanapactay Camp 6 - Huayllapa - Huactiac Camp 7 

Begin with a scenic descent through the valley, passing waterfalls and rivers, toward the remote village of Huayllapa (3,597m / 11,801ft).

After a break in the village, tackle a steep 3-hour ascent to Huatiac Camp (4,298m / 14,100ft), set beneath the towering Mount Diablo. This is one of the toughest days of the trek, with a challenging afternoon climb and often hot weather.

Day 12 - July 9, 2025

Huatiac - Yaucha Pass - Jahuacocha Camp 8

Begin with a descent into the wide Susucocha Valley, passing Susucocha Lakebefore ascending to Yaucha Pass (4,850m / 15,200ft)—your seventh and final high pass of the trek. From here, enjoy panoramic views of the Cordillera Huayhuash and Cordillera Blanca, with a chance to see Andean condors soaring above.

A long descent leads to Laguna Jahuacocha (4,057m / 13,310ft), often considered the most scenic gem of the entire trek, where you will set up camp for the night.

Day 13 - July 10, 2025

Jahuacocha-Mancanpunta Pass - Pocpa - Chiquian - end of trek

Today marks the final push to complete the Huayhuash Circuit. Begin with a steady ascent to 4,500m (15,000ft) for one last breathtaking view of the Andes. After a short break, descend steeply to Pocpa (3,483m / 11,427ft), where your trek officially ends.

From Pocpa, take a 2-hour transfer to Chiquián, where a hot shower, a comfortable bed, and a well-deserved dinner await at Hotel Los Nogales.

After breakfast, board a private coach bus for the 7-hour journey from Chiquián to Lima, arriving in the late afternoon.

Enjoy your last evening in Lima, with accommodation at a 4-star hotel. Bed and breakfast are included, and an optional dinner reservation can be arranged upon request.
